Yes the infamous local singer song writer, Doug Peters, part of the acoustic, folk and progressive music movement, enjoyed his massage so much he wrote a song about his unique experience. The song is part of his La Vaquera album, have a listen to the song (my song), Ka Huna Laydee. I personally thinks its great, but that could do with my taste in music. Let me know what you think of it.

Thank You: Donations for the Scouts
Thank you to everyone that donated stuff for the Isotropic Explorer Scouts.
You may remember me asking for things for the West Hull Scouts group to sell at a carboot, we were suppose to do it end of last year but we were rained out and then got too cold. Finally we have done it, the Carboot sale was at Walton Street market on Sunday 1st April. It was a 6.30am start cold and windy but no rain several of the scouts where there selling the stock raising money and raising awareness of Scouts in the local area. I felt very proud the kids they did really well and by the end of the morning we raised £166.21. This is great considering that there were people wanting to haggle over 20p but there were people that simply donated money to the Scouts so it all balances out.
Just want you to know that I’m very lucky to have such lovely and generous clients. So again thank you for all your stuff.
Plus want to say a big thank you to the BCC network group for their kind donation of £1000 to the Isotropic Scouts as well, the monies will be used as a hardship fund. All this has been very much appreciated.
What are the West Hull scouts about, there is up to 20 youngsters aged between 14 to 18 and the aim is to develop them physically and mentally through the purpose and methods of scout association in a fun and challenging way.
Sharpen Your Axe
Sharpen your Axe
My father must have been a great sage in a past life, he always has a tale to tell to remind me what is important in life and what I should focus on in business. He is one of those people that walk the talk so I know when he suggests something, it is part of his daily practice.
The “Sharpen your Axe” story, is one of his favourite.
The story is sent in a forest, of course. A young man and an old man are chopping trees down. The young man is amazed that the old man can cut down more trees than him. He is much younger and stronger and faster than the old man but at the end of each day the old man consistently cuts down more trees.
Each day the young man decides to cut faster and starts earlier and finishes later, he even chops through smoko (Australian slang for morning tea or afternoon tea) but still the old man chops more wood than he does.
Frustrated the young man finally asks the old man how can he chop more wood than him, he is up early, working hard and long hours, pushing himself to reach the targets. Where the old man seems to arrive early but not too early, works hard but has his brakes and cuts more wood. “What’s your secret?” asks the now desperate and exhausted young man.
The old man smiles and informs the young man that when he has his brakes he sharpens his axe.
As dad says, if you don’t take time to sharpen your axe you are kidding yourself as to how productive you are. Like many successful people, dad has a regular massage. This is one of the ways he sharpens his axe to keep him relaxed and happy with life and allowing things to happen with greater ease.
What do you do to Sharpen your Axe?
Can a massage make you pregnant?
When you are thanked for making someone pregnant, you have to smile. At the end of the day the husband had a lot to do with the conception however the regular Kahuna massages simply supported her body to relax to be able to create the great miracle.
This is the second child the bodywork has helped this client with. The format that we used was, when she got her periods and knew she wasn’t pregnant she would come for her massage. A pleasurable “compensation” for not getting pregnant that month. She was of course disappointed not falling pregnant but was able to enjoy her favourite massage. It supported her body to detox and improve the circulation thus allowing her body to cleanse and relax, plus boosting her immune system and helping to regulate hormone production.
There is no scientific research to prove that massage increases fertility or your chances to become pregnant but studies have shown that having regular bodywork reduces anxiety. Stress being factor that could effect conception thus the regular massage theoretically could help increase your chance to conceive.
So if you lead a stressful life, and lets face it who doesn’t, why not give massage a go.
Get your lymphatic system moving
One of the many positive side effects of having a regular Hawaiian Kahuna is that if gets your lymphatic system moving. The lymph system is the garbage collectors of your body.
More and more people are finding out the importance of having a lymphatic drainage massage. The benefits of lymphatic massage is that it gets your lymph system flowing, helps remove toxins from tissues and gives your immune system a boost. If you are feeling sluggish and not having the energy to do anything getting your lymphatic system moving could help.
Enthusiastic receiver of massages
I have been an enthusiastic receiver of massages for many years. I have experienced traditional Swedish massages and also aromatherapy and have found them very helpful in enabling me to relax and forget the stresses of a high-pressure job and modern living.
When I came across Valerie’s web-site describing the Hawaiian Kahuna massage it sounded very interesting and a little different so I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed. To start with, I was warmly welcomed and made to feel
that Valerie really cared about the treatment I was about to receive and I felt that I could trust her to look after me. The surroundings were calm and peaceful and I was already starting to relax as I lay on the massage couch.
The massage differed from those that I had experienced previously in that she uses her hands, forearms and elbows in long, flowing strokes over the full length of the body. As a consequence I was much less aware of one particular part of my body being concentrated upon and felt as if the whole ‘me’ was being worked on. The result really has to be experienced to be understood.
When Valerie had finished working on me I felt soothed, pampered and relaxed. Perhaps most importantly this was not just a physical feeling. I felt mentally calm and at peace with myself and I think that this is the end result which Valerie works very hard to achieve. When I went to bed that night I slept the sleep of the just, free of all the tensions and concerns which can easily occupy the mind.
Other massage treatments I have received have been good but this was simply special and I will certainly be visiting Valerie regularly from now on.

A Kuhuna massage given by Val is unlike any other massage
A Kuhuna massage given by Val is unlike any other massage I have ever had. Although the laying on of hands is great for cleaning out toxins from the muscles, the experience goes way beyond the physical. There is a one-to-one connection going on which is more akin to the unconditional love I experienced as a child with my mother.
While this universal love is always there, each session brings up different emotions in me and I never know in advance hat issues will crop up while being treated, but crop up they do! Sometimes, it’s a rollercoaster ride of repressed feelings, while at other times it is just a blissful 90 minutes of total surrender.
One thing is clear – cleansing takes place on many levels, and whatever the emotion at the end of a session, it is always accompanied by a big sense of “Wow!”
